Primer: The Republic of Grecca
“They were but a small and insignificant country but with such a nettle that they insult the throne. We declared war for this atrocity and their sheer tenacity dragged this war for far too long,”
~Admiral Tythos Murien of the Urmanean Fleet.
The Republic of Grecca is a small nation located between the Sovereignty
of Tenebrine and the Empire of Urmanea. Known to be the descendants from the
fallen Empire of Ghath, the Republic
is famed to possess the most powerful infantry across the entire world despite the
lack of technological advancements that gave itself a disadvantage in the war.
The country itself had
made a pact with the ancient Kingdoms of Farrec – the predecessors to the
Sovereignty of Tenebrine – where when the leaders of Grecca requests for aid,
then their allies must answer the call. Known as the Iron Pact, only the Sovereignty answered the summons to war in
obligation to fight the Empire (among many other things). Because of this, the
public often see the involvement of the Sovereignty to the war as unnecessary
due to how well known the pact is to everyone.
The Power of Grecca
Grecca is widely known for its powerful infantry that surpasses both the Empire and the Sovereignty when it comes to efficiency and brutality. But with the lack of any advanced technology that could rival the likes of Urmanea and Tenebrine, the soldiers of the Republic would find themselves struggling to gain significant victories. However, because of the outbreak of the war, Grecca has since been developing new weapons at a rapid pace and even established a new Special Forces division much in the same vein of the Halsiegel or the Shock Troopers named as the Legio Andreios or as the Valiant Legion.
In the first years of
the war, the Republic is shown to have utilized cavalry units ranging from
light cavalry to cataphracts. Despite the declining effective of such units in
battle, the Republic often use them as scouts (for the light cavalry) or as
shock units (the heavy variants) to break through enemy lines. They are also
known for their heavily fortified trench systems, with multiple layers of defenses
that make their lines almost impenetrable when charged head on.
In the years following
the beginning of the war, the Republic of Grecca became more and more
proficient in their military tactics despite losing countless areas in the
northern regions due to the technological might of the Empire that easily broke
through their defenses. Utilizing experimental weapons such as bipedal war
machines or jump packs, Grecca slowly regains their lost territory and launched
the ongoing Northern Reclamation
Campaign in 2339 with aid from Tenebrine.
