WITHOUT BANNERS - Short Story from the Tenebrine War

Image
AUTHOR'S NOTE:   This story took me longer than expected, especially on figuring out how it would end but alas, I made it. Thanks to a friend that suggested a story about a soy behind enemy lines, it gave birth to this tale of revenge from a man who worked for the Empire. There is also the battle report for  Operation Thunder Spear  which details the events mentioned in the story. Anyhow, enjoy your reading lads and lasses! Please leave a comment if you do enjoy this! ~Ryan Cay Battle of Ghurka, 2337

NOWHERE TO GO, BUT SALVATION - Short Story from the Tenebrine War

Image
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I have decided to write something different for the series, aiming for a more tense atmosphere than the usual chaos of battle that dominates much of the short stories that has been published. Set during the Branworth Purge  in 2336 of the early days of the Blackpowder War , this story focuses around a young couple that attempts to escape their city while Imperial soldiers are massacring the citizens. Enjoy reading!

FACTION PRIMER - The Republic of Grecca

Image
Faction Primer: The Republic of Grecca “ They were but a small and insignificant country but with such a nettle that they insult the throne. We declared war for this atrocity and their sheer tenacity dragged this war for far too long, ” ~ Admiral Tythos Murien of the Urmanean Fleet. The Republic of Grecca is a small nation located between the Sovereignty of Tenebrine and the Empire of Urmanea. Known to be the descendants from the fallen Empire of Ghath , the Republic is famed to possess the most powerful infantry across the entire world despite the lack of technological advancements that gave itself a disadvantage in the war. The country itself had made a pact with the ancient Kingdoms of Farrec – the predecessors to the Sovereignty of Tenebrine – where when the leaders of Grecca requests for aid, then their allies must answer the call. Known as the Iron Pact , only the Sovereignty answered the summons to war in obligation to fight the Empire (among many other things). Becaus

FACTION PRIMER: The Sovereignty of Tenebrine

Faction Primer : Sovereignty of Tenebrine “ They are a bunch of resilient bastards, never knowing when to back down. We took one fortress, they took two of ours. We brought ten tanks, they brought fifteen. Now I know why the old Empire could not conquer them, ” ~ Captain McDarien The Sovereignty of Tenebrine is a country located on the western side of the continent. Descending from the old Kingdoms of Farrec , Tenebrine is often considered as one of the two most powerful nations in the northern side of the land and is often at odds with the Urmanean Empire since the fall of Jakhad . With the king as its ruler, the Sovereignty is a pseudo-monarchy with a cabinet of ministers assisting the king in governing the country. The current king (by 1 January 2341) is King Gregory IX of House Drakhai with his son; Prince Jonathan is in line to succeeding the nation. Taking the skull of a dragon as its coat of arms upon a field of red, it represents the Sovereignty’s undying will to s

Battle Report: OPERATION THUNDER SPEAR - The Tenebrine War

Image
Battle of Junerva, 2338 OPERATION: THUNDER SPEAR Commander: General Brooke 19 th June 2338 At 7.30 a.m., our army of 200 tanks and 26,700 men begin their assault on Fort Junerva. Members of the 3 rd Regiment, with around 300 men charged into the fray with support from the armored div., attacking the right flank of the Fort with the sole purpose of disabling the anti-armor weapons that our scouts have identified. Accompanied by two squads from the Shock Trooper Division (the ‘Hell Brigadiers’ and the ‘Scornful Bastards’), their mission is to clear a path for the other forces – especially our tanks – to begin the second phase of the operation. By 7.50 a.m., they were under heavy fire from the machine gunners holed up in their nests and were pinned if not for the coordinated attack by the Shock Troopers. Even with the use of the ‘female’ Griffin type tanks, they are suffering heavy casualties under constant bombardment by the anti-armor weapons. The two Shock Trooper Squads

Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 1 - Thoughts & Review

Image
ATTACK ON TITAN S4E1: Thoughts & Review Right off the bat we have an excellent episode animated by Studio MAPPA (not the usual lads at Wit Studio). People may have heard of them animating Dorohedoro and the recently released Jujutsu Kaisen. Their animation talents undoubtedly have made itself the forefront of today's premiere episode. The episode kicks off at Fort Zlava , a Middle Eastern Federation  fortress who is at war at the Marleyans  whom we already know since the last few episodes of season 3. Looking at my current interests at the moment, especially with anything WW1, I'd say the integration of the setting and AOT's more fantastical elements work extraordinarily well. With the stunning animation done by the studio, the Battle of Fort Zlava  is an eye candy to look at - as with most first episodes in a new season of anime. The integration of CGI into its fight scenes is really good, not even feeling as if it is out of place like most other anime. Granted, Stud

FACTION PRIMER: The Empire of Urmanea (The Tenebrine War)

Image
Faction Primer: The Empire of Urmanea   “ They claim that they are the true descendants of the old Empire of Jakhad – sons of demigods and daughters of war. All I know about them is that those are nothing but propaganda hurled at their own people. Well, since when propaganda isn ’ t used in times like these? ” ~ Corporal David Anderson The Empire of Urmanea or more commonly known as the Urmanean Empire is an imperial-based country with a powerful military might located on the west coast of the Judrahn continent. Controlling most of the western regions, the Empire thrives on its technological advancements and outputs in certain areas such as fuel and power, making them one of the more prosperous industrial nations of the continent aside from the Sovereignty of Tenebrine . It is also one of the oldest factions that are established since the fall of the Empire of Jakhad two millennia prior. Starting off as a cluster of dozens – if not, hundreds of smaller states in the west coast
